Marcel Darie, who is running for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality on behalf of the Party of Law and Justice, accuses Liberal councilor Mihail Ceban of recently installing a new cigarette kiosk in the historical center of Chisinau.
The candidate, alongside his supporters, mounted a protest near the kiosk located on Mateevici St, IPN reports. Marcel Darie said Mihail Ceban avoids paying taxes and smuggles cigarettes, while Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca hides the illegalities committed by this.
The Liberal’s company “Cebacot” was allowed to set up over 200 kiosks all over the city, including in the historical center and on the pedestrian street, Marcel Darie said in the protest.
According to the candidate, the people cannot see the public transport owing to the kiosks and stands built up all over the city. The last kiosk was set up in secret in the middle of the election campaign and there was chosen an area crossed by many students.
Contacted by IPN, neither the Liberal councilor nor the head of the Liberal faction of the Chisinau Council or the press officer of the Liberal Party answered the phone to comment on the accusations.
