The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) announces it will stage a public action to support the freedom of the press and the correct informing of citizens on November 9, simultaneously in all the district centers and in Chisinau and Balti, Info-Prim Neo reports. Its leader Vlad Filat told a news conference on Monday the drive would have the form of meetings, at which the citizens will be informed about the “grave breeches committed by the ruling party in terms of fair and impartial informing.” The reunions will draft and sign resolutions which will be handed to the Moldovan leadership and to European officials. Referring to the latest attacks on media, the PLDM's first deputy president Alexandru Tanase has said they are part of the electoral strategy of the Communists Party. He thinks the civil society should make efforts and should terminate this situation, so that the citizens can get infos fairly and impartially, especially during the electoral period. Through this action, the PLDM repeatedly wants to warn the public that, in Moldova, the freedom of expression, the free access to fair and correct information is restricted, while the attacks on PRO TV, Vocea Basarabiei radio, the newspapers Timpul, Jurnal de Chisinau and Ziarul de garda are but several examples of restricting the right to free expression, the party leaders say.
