Lib-Dems suggest creating commission of inquiry into airport leasing

The PLDM wants the way the assets of the Chisinau International Airport are managed within the lease contract to be checked again. Therefore, the party’s parliamentary group registered a draft Parliament decision on the constitution of a commission of inquiry, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the party.

The informative note to the bill says the necessity of such a commission derives from the ambiguous and contradictory formulations of the working group that was set up by order of the Prime Minister. The group established that only one of the projected facilities was constructed. At the same time, the lease cannot be yet terminated even if it contains a number of points that make the Government’s position in the relations with the lessee vulnerable.

“Given the conclusions of the working group, the confidential results, the evasive answer as to when the contract can be terminated if not now, the identification of violations of the contract clauses on the construction deadlines, a commission of inquiry is needed to assess how the commitments deriving from the contract for leasing the assets of the Chisinau International Airport and the adjoining land are carried out,” said the bill authors.

In this connection, the MPs suggest that the commission of inquiry should present a report on the fulfillment of the obligations by the lessee within a month.

The same day, the working group set up by the Government to determine if there reasons for ending the lease announced that there are now no motives to end the contract.
