The Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group has registered a proposal to amend the Election Code. The bill provides for the augmentation of the number of ballots for polling places abroad from 3,000 to 8,000 and for two-day voting for the diaspora, IPN reports.
The bill also envisions the banning of donations to political parties by companies that won public tender contests and signed contracts with state institutions. At the same time, the Moldovans abroad will be able to make donations to parties.
According to the group’s leader Tudor Deliu, the proposed changes are related to the provisions that aroused suspicions in the presidential elections of 2016 and are in accordance with the Constitutional Court’s recommendations included in the six notes addressed to the legislative body. The proposal is to be submitted to the Venice Commission for appraisal.
Tudor Deliu reiterated that the Liberal-Democratic MPs will support no proposal to modify the current electoral system.
