LGBT community gives up holding parade
Representatives of the association GenderDoc-M say they will appeal the Chisinau Court of Appeals' decision banning holding the LGBT parade to a superior court and then to the ECHR if need be, and will postpone the pride parade until a new court decision is pronounced, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On April 29, the sexual minorities laid flowers at the monument to the victims of repression and released balloons in memory of the homosexuals and transsexuals who were deported or killed in concentration camps. “It is a gesture of respect for these people,” said the head of the information center GenderDoc-M Alexei Marcikov.
Afterward, the representatives of the sexual minorities staged a protest in front of the City Hall.
“It is an incorrect decision (the Chisinau Court of Appeal's decision – e.n.) and we will try to prove its illegality,” said program assistant at GenderDoc-M Angela Frolov.
Yesterday, the Chisinau Court of Appeals examined the City Hall's application and decided to ban the pride parade that was to be staged in the Great National Assembly Square on May 2. It recommended holding the parade at the Summer Theater in Valea Morilor Park.
