Nicolae Popa’s book “Flying schoolbag” and Ion Anton’s novel “Alina” will be promoted within the sixth edition of the nationwide campaign “Let’s read together!”. Director of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” Claudia Balaban has told IPN that these two books deserve to be read and known by the young readers.
“Choosing the books is the most difficult moment in this campaign. It would be a failure for the campaign to select a book that will not be read. That’s why we show a lot of responsibility when we choose the book,” stated Claudia Balaban.
In the previous five editions of the campaign, there were promoted books that were appreciated in the country and abroad and were awarded at different contests. “We think we are on the right pathway because we recommend the children and teens the best books as there are many books now, but it is no necessary to read them all. The children must read what will help them obtain something. These books are for children, about children and about the fate of people and deserve to be read by children and teens,” stated Claudia Balaban.
She also said that the main goal of the campaign is to promote valuable books and to stage activities for these to reach the most distant settlements of the country.
During the campaign that will last by this yearend, the national libraries will promote the recommended books by public readings, meetings with authors, debates and plays.
