Lessons at Romanian Language House will be taught for money

The Romanian language lessons at the Romanian Language House Nichita Stanescu, which is a municipal enterprise, will be taught for money. The initiative was put forward by the institution’s administration and was supported by 43 Chisinau councilors of the 51. Under the Chisinau Council’s decision, the monthly tax for lessons will be 345 lei, IPN reports.

The councilors of the Communist faction didn’t support the initiative. They asked constituting a commission that would determine how the money is spent. “We are not against the activity of the Romanian Language House, but 345 lei is a lot. The institution is also financed from the local budget. We must now how the tax was calculated,” said Boris Golovin, leader of the Communist faction.

The Communist councilors expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that Romania’s flag was hoisted on the institution’s building, instead of Moldova’s flag, and that the house bears the name of Nichita Stanescu, not of a Moldovan personality.
