Less kvass sold in Chisinau
Dozens of vendors stopped selling kvass in Chisinau after the police carried out raids to check if the sellers possess certificates of origin for the drink.
Adrian Jovmir, spokesman for the General Police Commissariat, has told Info-Prim Neo that the police officers draw up reports against the sellers that do not have certificates of origin. Under the Code of Administrative Offences, the owners of kvass stalls and the sellers are liable to fines of 500 to 2,000 lei.
At Monday’s meeting of the Chisinau City Hall, deputy mayor Mihai Furtuna said that more than a half of the kvass stalls in Chisinau work illegally. “The kvass is sold without documents of origin and quality certificates, while the sellers do not have medical certificates so that the buyers can get poisoned on hot days,” he said.
According to the information provided by the City Hall earlier this week, there are 104 kvass stalls in Chisinau. The data was not updated after the police raids.
