A crocheting workshop works as part of the Leova Boarding School. The students go there after classes and learn to crochet tablecloths, carpets for chairs, toys, hats, slippers and many other things, Info-Prim Neo reports. Liubov Hadarca has taught the children to crochet for 13 years. The workshop is attended by 20 girls and a boy. “We teach the girls to become good housewives. They may earn money from this work in the future,” said the teacher. The children collect the works they do and display them at exhibitions when such events are staged. They manage to sell a part of them. The teacher said the proceeds go to buy new needles and thread. Liubov Hadarca remembered that when the courses were launched it was hard as the students did not have thread. They untwined old clothes and used the thread obtained thus. Later, a number of kindhearted people helped them and bought everything they needed. The children of the Boarding School are involved in other extracurricular activities as well. They set up a hothouse where there are grown over 50 species of flowers. The students are taught how to grow flowers and look after them. The school also has shoe repair, hairdressing, beekeeping and food making workshops, a music club and athletics, football, table tennis and other sport clubs. As many as 200 children are studying at the Leova Boarding School.
