As from May 15, the foreigners entitled to temporary protection will be able to stay in the Republic of Moldova for a period of 90 days during 180 days, as the Commission for Exceptional Situations decided on Thursday, IPN reports.
The Commission’s order provides that the period of stay in the Republic of Moldova for up to 90 days within 180 days of the Ukrainian citizens, stateless persons and resort stayers from third countries, others than Ukraine, beneficiaries of international protection or equivalent national protection in Ukraine and members of their families, will be calculated as from May 15. The period of stay in Moldova until May 15 will not be taken into account when calculating the period no stay in Moldova for this category of persons.
The applicants for temporary protection will be able to further benefit from facilitated stay measures in Moldova and from simplified employment conditions through the agency of the temporary protection mechanism that was earlier approved by the Government.
By the same order, a temporary accommodation center for foreigners who were refused entry into Moldova will be set up within the temporary placement center for foreigners of the General Inspectorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the period between May 31, 2023 and June 2, 2023. The transportation of persons to the center will be ensured by the General Border Police Inspectorate with the assistance of the General Inspectorate for Migration.
The costs for food and medical assistance incurred by the center will be covered by the Migration Inspectorate, except for cases when the persons are banned from entering Moldova. The accommodation costs for these persons will be covered by the carriers that conveyed them.
The Government of the Republic of Moldova offers temporary protection to Ukrainian refugees. This is an exceptional immediate and temporary assistance measure for persons who meet the eligibility criteria.
Earlier, the authorities decided that as from March 2023, the persons who fled their homes owing to the armed conflict in Ukraine can benefit from temporary protection in the Republic of Moldova for a period of a year.
