Lending to population is only solution for revitalizing housebuilding sector, Condrumat
The private housebuilding sector will overcome the crisis only when optimal solutions for providing long-term loans to the population are identified, Pavel Caba, the head of the Employers Federation of Builders, Road Workers and Building Material Producers “Condrumat”, has told Info-Prim Neo.
The home loans should be granted for a period of minimum 10 years and the authorities should pay a part of the interest. Lending to economic entities is not a solution anymore as most of them already pledged the property they own. “We cannot repay the loans because we do not build and do not earn money. The best way out is to lend to the population so that the people could negotiate the building of an apartment with the contractor,” Pavel Caba said.
He also said that the state should implement a program to help finish the buildings under construction. A part of the apartments could be distributed to budget-paid employees.
According to the Federation, 6 billion lei will be needed to finish 200 apartment buildings located all over the country. More than 2 billion lei has been invested in them so far.
About 70,000 persons worked in the construction sector in 2007 - 2008, as against 50,000 at present, Pavel Caba said.
