Parliament decided to create a special commission for improving the legal framework that regulates alimentation in education institutions. The author of the legislative initiative, Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, in the last sitting of the Parliament’s autumn-winter session, said that hearings were earlier held and based on them the parliamentary groups suggested constituting a commission and delegated representatives to work on this, IPN reports.
The special commission will assess the situation in the area of alimentation in kindergartens and schools, will analyze the irregularities identified earlier, will examine the set of documents that regulate the area and will suggest improvement solutions. In 90 days of the constitution, the commission will present a report.
The problem of feeding in schools and kindergartens was brought into focus in November after a scheme to rig biddings for supplying food products to education institutions was revealed and wiretaps of telephone conversations between businessmen who won the bidding contests, officials of Chisinau education divisions and managers of education institutions were made public. It became known that unsafe food products were supplied to schools and kindergartens, including spoiled products with the use-by date expired.
