The Government endorsed the legislative initiative to introduce criminal punishment for acts of corruption and traffic of influence committed by legal entities. The penalty will be a fine of 40 000 to 80 000 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. Viorel Chetraru, director of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, said that this way they ensure the implementation of the recommendations made by the GRECO (Group of States against Corruption that was created by the Council of Europe), which monitors how the legislation and actions of Moldova are adjusted to the European and international standards on the fight against corruption. Other changes made envision that the charges of acts of corruption should include both pecuniary and non-pecuniary advantages.
