Three parties on October 2 signed an agreement on the creation of the left-wing bloc “Moldova’s Choice – Customs Union”. These parties are the Party of Regions headed by the Bashkan of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal, the Social Democratic Party led by Victor Selin, and the People’s Movement for the Customs Union Party headed by Oleg Topolitski, IPN reports.
The electoral platform of the new bloc, which was presented in a news conference today, is aimed at denouncing the Association Agreement with the EU and at holding a referendum on joining the Customs Union. Another objective is to remove from power the oligarchic clans and to ban unionist parties from entering Parliament as these parties, according to Mihail Formuzal, pose a threat to Moldova’s territorial integrity and statehood.
Mihail Formuzal said the electoral bloc comes with an absolute novelty – the election candidates will sign an accord to assume political responsibility for the made electoral promises. The Bashkan called on other left-wing parties to join the new bloc, noting that the pro-European and unionist parties will not be accepted.
The election threshold for electoral blocs consisting of three and more parties is 11% of the poll.
