Lech Kaczynski St to be inaugurated in Chisinau
A street named Lech Kaczynski will be opened in Chisinau today in the presence of the diplomatic corps. The event starts at 10.00, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the head of the Chisinau City Hall's International Relations Division Gabriela Ciumac, a number of ambassadors working in Moldova, employees of the City Hall and municipal councilors will be taking part in the event.
The initiative to give a Chisinau street the name of the late Polish President Lech Kaczynski was proposed in April, after the tragic plane accident that killed the presidential couple and another 96 members of the delegation. The president and his party of senior Polish military and political officials were on their way to a memorial for the Polish victims of a World War II massacre by Soviet secret police at Katyn, near Smolensk.
In respect for Lech Kaczynski and the Polish people, the Chisinau Council decided to name a section of Sprancenoaia St in Telecentru quarter after Lech Kaczynski.
