The pro-European parties have to form an alliance as soon as possible in order to met the expectations of voters and European partners, acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca told the public TV Moldova 1. According to him, this is the three parties’ last chance and the EU is puzzled that a pro-European government coalition hasn’t been formed yet.
“The Europeans are following with great attention what is happening here. When I was in Brussels, everyone was asking me why there still wasn’t any majority coalition after the leaders of the three parties had announced three weeks ago their willingness to govern together. The European officials trust us and this trust means financing and support and we have worked hard to obtained this trust”, said Leanca.
Commenting on the Communists’ availability to collaborate with the three pro-European parties if they form a coalition, Iurie Leanca opined that it is necessary to talk to PCRM and find shared goals. “PCRM isn’t the same radical party after many of its more radical activists left. They are in favor of the European course as well. I think we can talk and reach an understanding. Nonetheless, the act of governance must belong to the three pro-European parties”, said the PM.
He also refuted rumors that PLDM members are split regarding his nomination for a new term at the helm of the government. “The party made a promise to the voters and not only. It’s a commitment and it can’t be neglected. There aren’t any explanations for another candidate. We haven’t even discussed anything like this in the party. On the contrary, we discussed the tasks for my next term”, explained Leanca.
The outgoing official briefly reviewed the accomplishments and unfulfilled tasks of his first tenure. “The main achievement is that in a difficult period, when our neighbors had a war, we managed to maintain peace. Thanks to this, we were able to carry on the process of governance and obtain good results. However, we must admit that we haven’t solved some major issues such the low level of income among the population, the corruption and injustice that plague society and the lack of jobs”, concluded Leanca.
