Leanca hopes Rogozin’s visit will focus on cooperation commission

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca said he hopes the visit that the Russian President’s special envoy for the Transnistrian region Dmitry Rogozin is expected to pay to Moldova will center on the work of the intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic cooperation, not on the opening of a consulate in Tiraspol, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We start from the idea that the Transnistrian region is a component part of the Republic of Moldova so that theoretically and hypothetically it wouldn’t be a problem to open consulates of other states in Tiraspol. But certain criteria should be met in order to open a consulate especially in this region. We consider that these criteria haven’t been met yet,” said the minister. Iurie Leanca also said that the subject of consulates was included in the diplomatic cooperation agenda of the foreign ministries of the two states. “I hope that the goal of Mister Rogozin’s visit is the intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic cooperation. I’m convinced that the agenda, which was already agreed by the Russian side, will focus mainly on these subjects,” he stated. Dmitry Rogozin will visit Chisinau and Tiraspol on November 16 and 17.
