The Leanca group hasn’t yet decided whether it wil support the candidate for the post of Prime Minister Ion Sturza. After the meeting with the candidate on December 23, the leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova Iurie Leanca said they are waiting for a comprehensive offer from Ion Sturza and will then take a decision, IPN reports.
Iurie Leanca said they exchanged opinions on the situation in the Republic of Moldova and Ion Sturza provided a complex analysis in this regard and the possible solutions. More meetings will take place because the composition and plan of action of the future Cabinet haven’t been yet presented.
Ion Sturza said that if he is voted in, he will be politically unaffiliated during his entire tenure and will neither create nor join a political organization.
Asked if a meeting with the Democratic Party will take place, Sturza said he sent a letter to the Democrats’ leader Marian Lupu and hopes that this will accept the proposal to have discussions.
The Liberal Democratic Party on December 22 announced they support Ion Sturza. The leaders of the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party said they will not vote for the Sturza Government. The 14 MPs who left the Party of Communists said they will refuse to discuss with the candidate for Prime Minister.
