Leanca group to vote for Sturza Government

The three MPs of the Leanca group on January 4 will vote for the investiture of the Cabinet proposed by candidate for premiership Ion Sturza, the leader of the European People’s Party (PPEM) Iurie Leanca announced after the meeting of the party’s extended Political Bureau, IPN reports.

Iurie Leanca said that before the meeting he travelled to districts to find out the opinion of members and sympathizers of the party and the decision was taken by a majority of votes. This is based on the expectations of the PPEM members and people who want Moldova to overcome the crisis as soon as possible.

“We will see if Mister Sturza managed to convince more than 51 lawmakers to give their votes for him and his Cabinet,” stated Iurie Leanca.

The Leanca group in Parliament consists of Iurie Leanca, Eugen Carpov and Nicolae Juravchi, who are former Liberal-Democratic lawmakers.

So far, 18 Liberal-Democratic MPs (without the vote of Vlad Filat, who is in custody), 13 Liberals and three MPs of the PPEM announced that they will support the Sturza Government. This is 34 votes of the minimum 51 needed for the Cabinet to be invested.
