Leanca, Bakonski expected in Iasi on Friday
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Iurie Leanca and Romania's Foreign Minister Teodor Bakonski will be participating in the inauguration of Moldova's Consulate General in Iasi on Friday, October 8, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Iurie Leanca told the reporters the opening of the Consulate is a proof of the good Moldovan-Romanian relations and Moldova-EU relations.
In a communique, the Romanian Foreign Ministry says the inauguration of the Consulate General of Moldova in Iasi forms part of the process of extending the network of consulates of the two countries, following the opening of Romania's Consulates General in Balti and Cahul.
“The Moldovan authorities' wish to increase its representation in Romania is a natural consequence of the democratic changes that took place in the neighboring country after the Liberal-Democratic forces won the 2009 elections. This event is another proof of the friendly relations between two European states – a EU member and a country with ambitious objectives of European integration,” it is said in the communique.
