The leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova, MP Iurie Leanca, after the consultations with the head of state, said they didn‘t discuss possible candidates for premiership. According to him, the participants in the consultations are to first of all ensure a functional parliamentary majority and to then discuss candidates for premiership, IPN reports.
The lawmaker said the situation is now dramatic. He voiced hope that a formula for breaking the deadlock will be identified in concert with the PLDM, PDM and PL in the next round of consultations that will take place later today.
“Initially, we discussed principles and values, but afterward the discussions were reduced to who should designate the Prime Minister. We reminded yesterday our colleagues that the key objective now is to come to terms and to convince everyone, those from inside the country and those form outside it, that this time we drew conclusions and intend to govern in a different way,” stated Iurie Leanca.
President Nicolae Timofti will have another round of consultations with the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party, the Liberal Party and the Leanca group at 3pm today, December 16.
