Leanca: 2014 will be a year of great responsibility for Moldova's future

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca declared in the opening of this year's first meeting of the Cabinet today that 2014 will be a complex year and a year of great responsibility for shaping our country's future, asking the Cabinet members to mobilize.

Leanca informed the Cabinet that he met a visiting IMF mission earlier today. “It was interesting to hear the opinion of our development partners about the impressive economic growth achieved in 2013. And this is not just due to a low comparison base, given the losses incurred in 2012 in the aftermath of a severe drought. The economic growth is also due to the economic and social policies promoted by the government since 2009. These policies yielded results and they need to be consolidated”, said the prime minister.

Leanca asked the Cabinet members and the heads of governmental agencies to intensify communication with the local authorities and explain to the general public the benefits of the Association Agreement with the EU, which is due to be signed this year. The prime minister also requested the heads of agencies to reduce the frequency and durations of their work trips as he thinks their absence from office reduces efficiency.
