Suspended prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo said that for a year he has been trying to persuade the public that he hasn’t violated anything and the criminal cases started against him and his colleagues were fabricated and are politically motivated. Even if he disapproves of the leaking of alleged conversations involving Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco and considers that those who are behind these should be penalized, Alexandr Stoianoglo said these should not be ignored. The conversations featuring him show the hidden side of the pseudo-reforms in the justice system.
“We should not ignore information of major public interest deriving from the leaked conversations that endanger state security, seriously violate the national legislation and flagrantly affect human rights and the interests of individual persons. As to the authenticity of those conversations, I don’t think anyone doubts it. So, in one episode Mister Litvinenco is informed by representatives of the penitentiary system about the fact that the cell for the prosecutor general was ready and even pictures of the place were sent. Are there persons who haven’t yet realized who is there behind the fabrication of criminal cases against me? Who ordered my detention and arrest?” Alexandr Stoianoglo stated in a news conference at IPN.
According to him, the so-called assessment of the prosecutor general initiated by President Maia Sandu is nothing but a well-planned scenario whose goal was to remove the prosecutor general from the post at any cost and to subjugate the Prosecutor’s Office and the whole judiciary to the ruling party and to President Sandu.
Alexandr Stoianoglo noted that a crime was committed against him, but “these criminals continue to manage justice and the country”. “It is now clear why President Sandu didn’t sign the decree on my dismissal immediately. She strictly followed the instructions she initiated herself. What kind of decision should I expect from the judicial system and the Prosecutor’s Office after such evident revelations made by Litvinenco?” asked rhetorically Alexandr Stoianoglo.
The suspended prosecutor general noted that Sergiu Litvinenco should be fired from the post of minister of justice and should be held accountable. The members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors should also be brought to justice as they were involved in the illegalities by which he was suspended by falsifying the assessment of his work as prosecutor general. “A complaint to this effect was already submitted to the Prosecutor General’s Office today. Simultaneously, I call on the whole juridical community to assess the actions of the minister of justice and the SCP members and ask it to back the dismissal of the mentioned persons,” stated Alexandr Stoianoglo.
