A leakage of ammonia occurred at a dairy factory in Cahul town in the evening of April 11. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the leakage followed a malfunction in the hall of frigorific compressors, IPN reports.

Four teams of rescuers and firefighters intervened to neutralize the leakage. They created a water curtain and aired the rooms. The incident happened outside the working hours and there were only several persons inside the factory. These were evacuated. The SMURD team offered medical assistance to two persons, who weren’t hospitalized and are out of danger.

According to preliminary estimates, about 100 liters of ammonia leaked out of the frigorific installation.
