Leaders of PLDM and PDM meet for talks

The leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat had a meeting with the leader of the PDM Marian Lupu in the morning of May 28. The information was confirmed by Filat after a lecture that he gave at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, IPN reports.

Vlad Filat said the discussions with the Democratic leader will go on. The negotiators representing each of the parties continue to hold talks, but the party leaders also have discussions. Asked by the journalists about the obstacles in the negotiation process, the Liberal-Democratic leader said that certain difficulties never disappeared.

“What matters for us is to have an invested Government and to overcome the political crisis that persisted for too long. This Government should have the necessary leverage, which is functional institutions working based on the law, not on party interests. This is what we want to achieve in the negotiations,” stated Vlad Filat.

The leader of the PLDM didn’t want to make forecasts as to the investiture of the new Government on May 30, but said that the members of the PLDM have a serious and responsible attitude and the requests they made in the negotiations are normal and result from the needs of the institutions.

In this connection, Vlad Filat underlined that it’s not a problem if the Speaker is elected before the investiture of the new Government. The overcoming of the political crisis is a priority for Moldova.
