The leaders of the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Liberal Party (PL) and the Green Ecologist Party (PVE) are blaming the organizers of the February 24 elections for the poor results of their unionist parties. They say that a large part of society, including the unionists, are not represented in the new Parliament. However, the party leaders promise they will try to consolidate their forces in the future, IPN reports.
Anatolie Prohnitchi, head of the PVE, says his party is both happy and sad with results, despite all the uncertainty during and before the elections. “We have been attacked and marginalized. We fought in unequal conditions”, the politician complained on public TV. The ACUM opposition bloc is one of those Prohnitchi deems responsible for his party’s poor result.
PNL leader Vitalia Pavlicenco claims the February 24 elections weren’t fair. She thinks that the people didn’t vote for ideological parties and no right parties entered Parliament. “We need a polarization in Moldova so that it would be clear who is pro-West and who is pro-East”, she argued. Pavlicenco sees the upcoming local elections as a good platform for unionist parties to achieve something.
The first deputy leader of the Liberal Party, Corina Fusu, thinks that the supporters of the Unification with Romania didn’t vote in these elections because there was no clear unionist voice to call them. “We are sorry that the statehood partisans have removed unionists from these elections and, after a long time, there will be no unionist party in Parliament of Moldova”, said the Liberal. She promised that PL would do its utmost to consolidate the unionist forces.
Columnist Nicolae Negru noticed that there were several parties with unionist messages but they didn’t get the people’s votes. “They weren’t convincing enough. They need to do something more to convince the voters that they deserve their votes”, he argues.
After the February 24 elections, none of the parties that demand the Unification of Moldova and Romania cleared the electoral threshold to enter Parliament.
