Leaders of Liberal-Democratic parties optimistic about decision to recount votes
The leaders of the PLDM, PDM and PL consider the vote recount ordered by the Constitutional Court on Friday will clarify the results of the November 28 early legislative elections, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”We think the Communists themselves will bring us the two seats we need (the possible center-right coalition would need two votes to elect the head of state – e.n.),” Acting President Mihai Ghimpu told the press.
The leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said it is very important that the vote recount be performed in strict compliance with the legislation of Moldova.
”If there are doubts indeed, the votes should be recounted so that nobody returns to this question during the next four years,” said the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat.
The Constitutional Court on December 10 ordered a vote recount following an application filed by the Communists Party, which invoked calculation errors and violations committed when compiling the voting reports.
The Central Election Commission has seven days to recount the votes and announce the results.
