Leaders of extraparliamentary parties about vote rigging

Leaders of extraparliamentary parties accuse the parties of the government coalition of starting to fix the results of the parliamentary elections and of using administrative resources for the purpose. Such statements were made in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

Vasile Tarlev, co-chairman of the party “Renaissance”, said the government banned voting with the Soviet-type passport in a move to fix the elections. “The free issuing of identity cards to holders of Soviet-type passports is an electoral farce. The elderly people who have such passports will not go to the district center to replace their identification papers as they don’t need this,” stated the former Premier.

Vasile Tarlev also criticized the government for deciding to establish a lower number of polling places in Russia than in the EU and for not taking the necessary measures to ensure the participation by the Transnistrians in elections. “The Transnistrian administration is not as aggressive as during the time of Smirnov. The participation of the people from Transnistria in the parliamentary elections could have been negotiated somehow. There are about 500,000 voters in Transnistria. The vote will be rigged and the votes of the Moldovans in Russia, who will be unable to cast their ballots, could be also used in this respect,” he stated.

The president of honor of the Christian-Democratic People’s Party Iurie Rosca noted that the parties of the government coalition are manipulating the voters through the state institutions they control. “Moldova’s Post Office, the Prosecutor’s Office and the ICT Ministry are managed by the Democratic Party, while the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health – by the Liberal Democratic Party. All the functionaries of these parties work in favor of the parties controlling them,” he said.

The leader of the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Oleinic wasn’t so categorical, but also considers that the parties of the government coalition use the administrative resources in the election campaign.
