The head of the Moldovan-Italian sociocultural promotion association DOR Alexandru Cazacu said about 1,000 Moldovans in Italy’s Parma could not exercise their right to vote owing to the shortage of ballots. Initially, the atmosphere was wonderful and there was massive mobilization, but in the afternoon it became clear that not all those who want will manage to vote.
Alexandru Cazacu has told IPN that interminable lines formed meanwhile. The people hoped they will be able to vote. At 3pm, the voters started to disperse. After 6pm, it was announced that the ballots were used up. A part left, while about 500 remained to protest.
According to him, the people were simply bewildered by the created situation, asking what country is that where there is not enough paper for ballots. A lot of work was done with the diaspora in the election people. The people were mobilized to vote, but today they left the polling places disappointed because they could not vote.
