Prime Minister Pavel Filip, together with Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, laid flowers at the monument to ruler Stephan the Great and Holy and the busts of writers on the Alley of Classical Writers in the central public garden of Chisinau on the occasion of the Our Language Day, IPN reports.

The Premier and the Speaker were accompanied by members of the Government, MPs and representatives of the central public administration.

A number of cultural events and public debates were staged on the Alley of Classical Writers during the day. The Library “Onisifor Ghibu” hosted a number of book launches. Traditionally, the local public authorities staged cultural events at the local level. The celebrations ended with a festive concert in the central square of Chisinau.

The Our Language Day is a national holiday that is celebrated in the Republic of Moldova annually on August 31 to honor the Romanian language.
