The Supreme Council of Magistrates informed the Ethics and Discipline Commission of the Lawyers Union of Moldova about the public statements made by lawyer Vitalie Taulean. Vitalie Taulean held a news conference on June 19, where he said that the judges of the Rascani District Court commit serious violations of the procedural norms when examining criminal cases. He referred to understandings between judges, which result in the passing of illegal sentences by which the rights and interests of the people are violated.
In the meeting of the Council, judge Violeta Cojocaru said the Judicial Inspectorate carried out an inspection at the court and established that the lawyer’s statements are unfounded and untrue and are aimed at damaging the court’s reputation.
