The lawyers for Ilan Shor asked again to replace the preventive measure for their client. They requested the Cahul Appeals Court to place their client under judicial control as this measure will ensure Ilan Shor’s participation in hearings. The current measure is inefficient and this was evident during two years, said the lawyers.

In a press release that is quoted by IPN, the lawyers noted that Ilan Shor’s depositions are very important for elucidating the real circumstances in which the so-called “bank fraud” was committed. Also, if the preventive measure is replaced, Ilan Shor will be able to take part in the trail and his right to defense will be fully ensured.

The lawyers noted that if the preventive measure is changed, the leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor will be able to fulfill his duties as an MP and to directly deliver on the promises he made to the citizens during the election campaign.

In June 2017, Ilan Shor was sentenced to seven years and a half in jail for causing considerable damage to the state by swindle and abuse of power. The sentence was challenged. In June 2019, Ilan Shor disappeared from the public sphere and the prosecutors instituted criminal proceedings against him for illegally fleeing the country. In August 2019, Ilan Shor was stripped of parliamentary immunity. His case continues to be tried in the appeals court. He was now elected again to Parliament. Ilan Shor pleads not guilty.
