The hearing in the case of the ex-president of the Administration Board of Banca de Economii Ilan Shor, which was set for December 4, was postponed. The Cahul Appeals Court said the lawyers didn’t present themselves. The next hearing was set for December 10, 2pm.
Contacted by IPN for details, lawyer Denis Calaida said that he has been in contact with a colleague who was confirmed with COVID-19 and he is therefore self-isolating. The lawyers will most probably be unable to come to the next hearing as well.
In June 2017, Ilan Shor got seven years and a half for causing considerable damage to the state by swindle and abuse of power. The sentence was appealed. In June 2019, Ilan Shor disappeared from the public sphere. Legal proceedings for illegal leaving of the country were brought against him. On August 15, 2019, Ilan Shor was stripped of parliamentary immunity.
