Lawyer Vitalie Taulean requests Parliament to take legal action against Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin and to suspend him from post. “Today, February 25, I submitted an application to the Head of Moldova’s Parliament, whereby I asked filing a lawsuit against Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin, who tolerates the illegalities committed by judges, prosecutors and other employees of the law enforcement bodies,” the lawyer said in a news conference at IPN.

Vitalie Taulean also asked carrying out an inspection to see how the complaints submitted to the Prosecutor General’s Office are being registered because the prosecutor general ordered that the criminal complaints should be registered as petitions so that the persons who filed them cannot appeal them in the way provided by the legislation.

In the conference, the lawyer was accompanied by a group of his clients, who said that they are victims of the illegalities committed by prosecutors. Vitalie Taulean spoke about Radu Vartic, who was arrested for swindle and who, according to the lawyer, was beaten in his house in the presence of his minor children. The lawyer said this case has been tried for about two years and neither the man, nor he, as his lawyer, was cited by the prosecutors. In another case, started over theft, his client continues to be held on remand even if there is a person who admitted his guilt. Also, a group of young people were arrested on suspicion that they broke into a house. According to Vitalie Taulean, this offense was staged by the law enforcement bodies because they want to increase the crime solving rate.

The group of people, together with Vitalie Taulean, went to the Prosecutor General’s Office to protest against the illegalities of the law enforcement bodies.
