Lawyer Ilie Rotaru will run for MP seat in the snap parliamentary elections in constituency no. 50, in the west of Moldova. He claims that the initiative group has already been registered, and the collection of signatures has begun.
At an IPN press conference, Ilie Rotaru said that among the actions included in his electoral program was "the creation of a parliamentary commission that would investigate the activity of the Prosecutor's Office and of judges as regards the fabricated criminal cases and the conviction sentences passed by order of Vladimir Voronin and Vlad Plahotniuc”. According to Ilie Rotaru, "the activity of the commission would focus on the study of concrete criminal cases, which have gone through all the stages of judicial examination during the last 10-15 years."
The lawyer mentioned that he faced himself fabricated cases, and one of them was initiated after he made statements in the public space about the "asset plundering from " Gemeni "(trading house) by Vladimir Voronin and Vlad Plahotniuc". Ilie Rotaru, who is also a director and shareholder of "Gemenii" JSC, says that, in 2006, he received information according to which the joint stock company was included in the list of companies that were of special interest to the Voronins. This information was allegedly obtained from a collaborator of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption (now the National Anticorruption Center).
Ilie Rotaru claims that the legal shareholders have been replaced by persons appointed by Vladimir Voronin and Vlad Plahotniuc. Subsequently, criminal proceedings were instituted against him, and his dispossession of shares was possible through court rulings made to order.
The lawyer also says that the issue related to the situation in "Gemeni" is not yet on the agenda of the new government, but he wants it to be discussed at the highest level. In this regard, Ilie Rotaru said he wanted an audience with the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Parliament and the Head of State.
Ilie Rotaru also mentioned the intention to create the People's Court for the Investigation of Litigants’ Crimes. Citizens can personally inform them of any injustice they have been subjected to, which then will be made public.
