All the cases started against the former director of the wine complex “Cricova” Valentin Bodiul were fabricated by order of particular persons who intended to privatize this state-owned enterprise, said lawyer Anatolie Donciu, noting that the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office issued an order to drop the cases against Valentin Bodiul, IPN reports.

In a press release, Anatolie Donciu says that a series of criminal cases were started against Valentin Bodiul and other persons from “Cricova” factory in 2017-2018. They were ultimately dropped for the reason that the elements of an offense were absent.

On December 19, 2017, when the arrest of Bodiul was decided, he wasn’t in Moldova and, in order to avoid being illegally arrested, he had to stay abroad for a period. “After the power changed, Valentin Bodiul said that he wants to cooperate with the investigation bodies and made relevant statements. As a result, all the started cases, including against Bodiul, were dropped,” runs the press release.

“He was unjustly harassed as he committed no illegality. It should be noted that the Prosecutor General’s Office recently apologized publicly to Valentin Bodiul, announcing that the charges against him were dropped.”

Two days ago, the Prosecutor General’s Office said the ex-director of the wine producer “Cricova” Valentin Bodiul and the manager of a company were freed from charges. The PGO noted that after thoroughly examining the evidence, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office reached the conclusion that the elements of an offense were absent. This way, the institution apologized publicly for the illegalities committed by the former administration of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
