The MPs will be monitored by a commissioner for ethics and those who will violate the professional deontology will remain without the lawmaker’s allowance. A bill to this effect was put forward by the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group, IPN reports.
The draft Code of Conduct stipulates behavioral norms for MPs in the Parliament’s plenary sittings and in the meetings of the permanent parliamentary commissions and outside them, in the dialogue with the foreign partners and in the relations with the people and the mass media.
The commissioner for ethics’ reports will be examined by the legal commission for appointments and immunities. The penalties for not observing the Code of Conduct include: reprimand, offering of public apologies, and loss of the lawmaker’s allowance. If the norms of conduct are violated regularly, the MPs may be prevented from taking part in all or a part of the Parliament’s activities for a period.
