Lawmakers observe one-minute silence for victims of April 7, 2009 protests
The April 7 sitting of the legislature started with a one-minute silence in honor of the victims of the April 7, 2009 events. The Communist lawmakers did not join in with the parliamentary majority and did not stand up, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The proposal to observe a one-minute silence was submitted by Liberal lawmaker Ion Hadarca. The Liberal MPs inquired why the administration of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Security and Information Service, and the Ministry of the Interior was not invited to the sitting to provide details about the investigation of the April 7, 2009 events.
Ion Hadarca insisted that the given issues should be included in the agenda of Thursday's sitting of the legislative body. The Communist MPs opposed, saying it was the ruling alliance that mobilized the young people in April 2009.
The Speaker put the Liberal lawmaker's proposal to the vote, but it did not gather the necessary number of votes.
Democrat MP Dumitru Diacov suggested that all the initiatives concerning April 7 should be discussed in the April 14 sitting, but his proposal was also rejected.
