Lawmakers donate by 2.500 lei from salaries to flood victims
The Parliament decided to provide 259,000 lei to the flood-affected residents of Cotul Morii and Nemteni villages of Hancesti district. Veaceslav Ionita, chairman of the commission for economy, budget and finance, presented in Parliament a bill, which says that every MP donates by 2,500 lei from the salary to the flood victims. The 114,000 lei that was to be paid to the Communist lawmakers in premiums for attending the plenary sittings and the meetings of the standing commissions will also be donated to the victims, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Yesterday, Veaceslav Ionita said the state spends over 2.5 million lei a month on maintaining the apparatus and offices of the Communists Party. About 10 million lei has been spent for the purpose since March. “As the Communist MPs did not attend the sittings of the Parliament and the meetings of the standing commissions, they will not get the daily allowances,” Ionita said.
He added the members of the European Parliament who do not come to the sittings remain without salaries and such a practice might be used in Moldova as well.
