The traffic will be regulated by a code that was passed by the legislative body in the first reading. The National Motor Transport Agency will be the authority that will ensure the implementation of the document. The new body will make sure that the national and foreign carriers working in Moldova observe the national legislation and the international agreements, will issue and withdraw authorizations and will impose fines for illegal fares, IPN reports.

The Agency will also authorize the national carriers to transport persons on international routes by issuing them with INTERBUS permits and roadmaps for the counties that didn’t join the INTERBUS Agreement.

The Traffic Code does not apply to private individuals involved in transport operations for personal purposes and to carriers operating vehicles whose highest authorized speed does not exceed 40 km/h or military vehicles.
