The PLDM’s withdrawal to the opposition is an act of irresponsibility and cowardice. This decision was influenced by the fact that the PDM, as a partner in the AEI 3, voted in favor of the no-confidence motion against the Strelet Government and the agreement to form the ruling alliance was thus seriously violated. The issue was developed in the talk show “Moldova live” on Moldova 1 channel, IPN reports.
The Liberal Party’s deputy head Valeriu Munteanu, though he considers that the gesture of the Lib-Dems is very irresponsible, expects that these will change their mind. “It is great irresponsibility to withdraw now that the winter is coming and to leave the country in such a crisis. I call on those from the PLDM to return. We are ready to wait for them at the negotiating table. In the Republic of Moldova, the coalitions are not only political, but also geopolitical in character,” he stated.
Democratic MP Sergiu Sarbu, who also described the PLDM’s refusal to take part in the negotiations as cowardice, said they will continue the discussions with the PCRM. “We hope to have discussions with the Communist faction, which surprised us pleasantly after they got rid of that group of radicals. I’m confident that we will have a ruling alliance and a government next week. A party of the left is not necessarily anti-European, as a party of the right is not pro-European by definition. The Socialist left in Europe, which ranks second by the number of seats held in the European Parliament, is a conclusive example,” he stated.
The deputy head of the PLDM Vadim Pistrinciuc, within a telephone call during the program, admitted that though the decision to withdraw to the opposition was adopted by the votes of most of the members of the National Political Council of the party, there were also votes against. “The main reason was the fact that the PDM voted for the Government’s dismissal together with the Communists and Socialists. This groundless dismissal caused the termination of the agreement to form the AEI 3,” he stated.
