Law on money transfers from abroad will be simplified, Maia Sandu

President Maia Sandu, who is seeking a new presidential term, recognizes that the legislation on money transfers from abroad needs to be simplified. According to her, the more rigorous legal framework was adopted to prevent Shor's money from coming into the country, but the restrictions have not worked. Under these circumstances, the government will review the legislation and make it simpler for people who work honestly abroad to transfer money, IPN reports.

The statements were made during the election debates, where his counter-candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo said that Moldovans can no longer freely spend money earned abroad because they have to prove its origin. And the diaspora in Russia is deprived of the right to send money to Moldova. "These are just a few examples of the current government's carelessness," commented Alexandr Stoianoglo.

The candidate of the Party of Socialists asked his opponent what she and the government have achieved all these years for the diaspora and migrant workers.

"Everything we have done all these years has been for our citizens at home and for our citizens abroad. Our citizens abroad worry about their loved ones back home. And every time we talk to them, that's what they ask us - to improve living conditions for those back home. All our projects on water and sewage, on the repair of cultural centers, kindergartens and schools. All the things we started, it is very important to continue them - repairing roads, construction of aqueducts, sewage systems, investments in universities, in the health system," Maia Sandu replied.

The candidate also said that there is a need to do more, there is a need to improve the situation in all areas so that more Moldovans return home. "This is our goal and, if you look carefully, this is how our citizens in the diaspora see these things, which is also reflected in their vote in the first round. Everything we do is for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova," the PAS candidate added.

At the beginning of the debates, Alexandr Stoianoglo referred to the objectives stipulated in his platform. These include stopping the population exodus, implementation of the program "Dignity of return", European modernization of Moldova - in economy, infrastructure, education and health.
