This year's elections witnessed a massive phenomenon of electoral corruption and fraud attempts through the interference of the Russian Federation, which undertook several actions to overturn the elections. And, although the phenomenon of massive vote buying has already been detected in the elections in ATU Gagauzia, new techniques of electoral corruption were applied in the presidential elections and the referendum. In order to combat them, by the end of this parliamentary session, proposals to amend the legislation are to be tabled so that electoral fraud can be prevented in next year's parliamentary elections. These are some of the recommendations of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and public order, which held hearings on the issue today, IPN reports.
The hearings were held behind closed doors. At the end of the hearings, commission chair Lilian Carp told a press conference that several institutions were heard. From the information that can be made public, it can be said that the process of election fraud was done through several non-governmental organizations used as a front. One of them is 'Evrazia', and its activities were directed by people affiliated to Ilan Sor. In addition to buying votes, this organization was also used to train groups by Russian polit - politicians. 115 young people were trained at a shooting range near Moscow in organizational techniques aimed at mass destabilization in the protests to be organized. Lilian Carp said that a new component in election fraud is the involvement of clerics.
"It has been reported to us that there are several criminal cases of electoral fraud.More than 500 searches were carried out, 57 million lei were seized, more than 476 people were interviewed. There are still 2734 out of more than 3700 materials under examination. There is the list of people confirmed to have downloaded the app through which money was transferred. There are 140 thousand people involved in fraud and this is not the final figure.Another phenomenon is that of fictitious donations made by an economic agent to an electoral candidate. We are talking here about a legislative loophole which allows illegal financing to be covered up. At the same time, some electoral operators, who had the PSB application on their phones, were also corrupted", said the chairman of the parliamentary committee.
One recommendation made is to organize hearings also on the platform of the Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments and Immunities, but wider hearings in the plenary of the legislature. "Parliament also needs to amend the legislation by the end of this session to prevent the phenomenon of electoral corruption, so that we are better prepared for the elections next year", Lilian Carp said.
