The dean of the Faculty of Law of the State University of Moldova Sergiu Brânza and lawyer Viorel Berliba, who were arrested for acts of corruption, will be held on remand for 30 days. Such decisions were taken by the Chisinau City Court. The two plead not guilty, IPN reports.
Sergiu Brânza will be held in the remand prison of the National Anticorruption Center, while Viorel Berliba at Pruncul Penitentiary No. 16.
The two were arrested three days ago. The dean is suspected of taking money from the lawyer for helping two students to get pass grades on their doctoral theses.
