Famous folk singers from Moldova and Romania will be invited to perform in the two concerts that will be given in Chisinau on the occasion of 40 years of the foundation of the Orchestra “Lautarii” (“Fiddlers”). The concerts will take place at the National Palace on December 19 and 20, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We want it to be a double holiday – Saint Nicholas and the anniversary of the orchestra. Any performance means real and nice work for us,” Master Nicolae Botgros, violin player and conductor, said in a news conference on Wednesday. Romanian folk singer Irina Loghin will be the special invitee of the two concerts. The December 19 concert will involve the Moldovan singers Nicolae Glib, Lidia Bejenaru, Nicolae Cibotaru, Ioana Capraru, Doina Sulac and several laureates of the Festival “Nicolae Sulac” as well as the Romanian singers Cristian Pomohaci, Mioara Velicu, Stana Stepanescu-Banatean, and Adriana Antoni. The invitees of the December 20 concert are Dinu Iancu Salagean, Petre Stoian-Matu, Niculina Stoican, Margareta Clipa, Matilda Pascal-Cojocarita, Paula Pascu, Ovidiu Bartes, and Marcel Pavel. Among the Moldovan singers will be Adriana Ochisanu, Ion Paladi, Ana Dabija, Doina Arseni and others. Romanian presenter Victor Mihalache and Cristi Botgros will act as emcees. The performances are not financed by sponsors. Tickets costs between 80 and 400 lei. By December 19, “Lautarii” will erect a monument to Nicolae Sulac, who founded the orchestra, at the Central Cemetery in Chisinau. “I think that “Lautarii” does not have rivals as it did not take part in a competition, but build the history,” said Nicolae Botgros. He also said that they plan to make an international concert tour and to set up a music school. The National Orchestra “Lautarii” was founded by Nicolae Sulac in 1970 within the State Philharmonic of Moldova. The orchestra's conductor was violin player Mircea Otel. Nicolae Botgros replaced him in 1978.
