The Chisinau City Hall selected ten laureates of the Municipal Youth Prize in science, literature and arts. The young people received diplomas, medals and awards of 5,000 lei. There were also given seven prizes of 1,000 lei each, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the award ceremony on November 17, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the young people are the carriers of positive and progressive energy in society. “In 2005, when we started to restore the people’s trust in administration, the young people were on our side. In 2007, it was confirmed, while in 2009 it was the apogee. In 2010 and 2011, we wouldn’t have succeeded without the young people’s support. I wouldn’t have been now here, in this office, if the youth hadn’t provided assistance,” said the mayor. The head of the Chisinau Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said the municipal youth prizes are awarded the 16th time. More and more people take part in the contest. The applicants are examined by a commission composed of well-known figures from the municipality of Chisinau. Laureate Elena Demirdjean, a soloist of the National Philharmonic, said that this is not the first contest in which she competed, but every competition is special and important. She stressed that this prize represents a stimulus in her work. Another laureate, Oleg Palamatciuc said he participated in the contest with a series of works centering on the study of new magnetic molecules for storing digital information. “This prize is like an impetus. I began the study many years ago and I won a number of prizes for my assiduous work,” he stated. The laureates this year are: Oleg Palamatciuc (chemistry), Andrei Stirbu (winegrowing), Sergiu Vamasescu (fruit growing), Silvia Goteanskii (literature), Svetlana Panta (publicity), Victoria Rocaciuc (plastic arts), the teams Denis Ceausov and Elena Demirdjean (musical art), Denis Dimitriu, Ana Antir, Mihai Zubcu, Anastasia Lazarencu, and Marian Ungur (theatrical art), Oleg Ciobanu, Radu Ciobanu, Iulian Malcoci, Radu Crudu, and Marin Gutu (renewable energy).
