Latvia will ask that the text of the Association Agreement that Moldova is to sign with the EU should specify a clear European integration prospect, Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis said in a meeting with Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, the two officials agreed to stimulate the bilateral relations and on the European dimension. Nicolae Timofti said the Republic of Moldova appreciates the positive European experience of Latvia and would like to learn from the methods used by this country to reform its public institutions. The Latvian Premier said that his country supports Moldova’s European aspirations. “We regard Moldova as a success example in the Eastern Partnership. The country made the most significant progress among the EaP countries,” he stated. Head of Parliament Marian Lupu also had a meeting with Valdis Dombrovskis. The Latvian official pleaded for developing the commercial-economic relations between the two countries and voiced hope that Moldova will have a clear European integration prospect after the Eastern Partnership Summit of Vilnius. According to the Parliament’s press service, Marian Lupu thanked the Latvian authorities for the financial assistance provided to Moldova for implementing reforms aimed at modernizing the country. Valdis Dombrovskis’s visit to Moldova is the first of a Latvian Premier after an interval of over six years. The official was met at the Government Building with military honors.
