Latvia will offer Moldova assistance in implementing reforms

Latvia will provide all the assistance that Moldova needs in doing reforms, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs assured in a meeting with Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman held in Chisinau, IPN reports.

“We ascertain remarkable results achieved as a result of the implementation of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU. Latvia will support Moldova in the European integration process, while the Eastern Partnership continues to be a priority for us,” said the Latvian official.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the sides noted the good cooperation relations between the two states at sector level, in areas that are important for advancing Moldova’s integration into the EU, such as justice, education, health and environment.

“We are very glad that we witness a very intense, substantial and constructive political dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and Latvia. In the future, we aim to strengthen cooperation between the competent ministries, the local public authorities and the businessmen so as to benefit from the advantages provided by the Free Trade Area with the EU,” stated Natalia Gherman.

The officials also discussed the political situation in the country, the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and the developments in the region.
