Latvia marks 94 years of independence in Chisinau

Latvia celebrates this year the 94th anniversary of its independence. On Thursday, November 15, before the anniversary, an official festivity was organized in Chisinau on this occasion, also marking 20 years of Moldovan-Latvian relations. The ceremony brought together Moldovan officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps and businessmen interested in cooperating with the Latvians, Info-Prim Neo reports. Latvia’s Ambassador to Moldova and Ukraine Argita Daudze spoke at the opening about the country’s history, about its achievements and integration in the EU and NATO. She said that Latvia has always been friendly towards neighbors and friends and is ready to share its experience of implementing reforms and European integration. The Ambassador bid the Moldovans force and patience to attain their goals. Moldovan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman thanked the Latvians for their support. She stressed that Moldova will be able to take the same path as Latvia, which can be an example for Moldovans. Natalia Gherman admitted it was not an easy path, but is confident that Moldova would find enough strength to go till the end. The guests of the event said that the two countries have always had good relations. In order to continue these relations in a more productive way, the Latvian Embassy’s Chancellery was opened in Chisinau. The festivity ended with the performance of the Latvia’s national military orchestra and its jazz duet. The event was prepared with the support of Latvia’s honorary consul to Moldova Valeri Dragnev and of the company Air Baltic.
