Latest rain compensates for lack of moisture in soil, specialists

The latest rain will not cause damage to crops, except where there was hail. According to the chairman of the National Union of Agricultural Producers Associations “Uniagroprotect” Alexandru Slusari, after the drought and the high temperatures of the last few years, the rain of the last few weeks only compensates for the lack of moisture in soil.

“The precipitation in this period is beneficial. The plants now have the necessary level of wetness. It is regrettable that the rain fell not uniformly as there was not much precipitation in some of the districts,” Alexandru Slusari has told IPN’s reporter.

The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s Vegetal Products Market Policy Division Mihail Suvac shared this opinion. He said that only the areas where there was hail were affected, but it is early to speak about the damage caused to agriculture.

Suvac recommended the farmers whose plots were covered in mud in parts to use chemical substances for protecting the crops, especially solutions that contain copper so as to prevent bacteria growth.
